About Me

Yo, what’s up? I’m Kuba – an avid runner and tech nerd. Let me tell you a bit about myself…
I’ve always been an active kid that couldn’t sit still, running everywhere I went. My first love was gymnastics, but I eventually moved on to athletics, specifically pole vaulting and sprint distances, where I competed on a national level for over a decade.

With college, my priorities shifted, but since I loved sports, I chose to get a degree with a focus on a healthy lifestyle and leisure. This was a period where I discovered my love for physiology and learned about the importance of physical activity and nutrition for our health. During college, I also had the opportunity to use a heart rate monitor (Polar rs800) for the very first time. I was extremely intrigued by the data, and that is when my attraction to health technology began.

Since I had to leave my home sports club to study in a different city, I decided to take on new challenges and focus on music which is another passion of mine. In those years, I haven’t done much sports, and since life hit me hard at that time, I also gained over 50 pounds. Thankfully once I got the hang of things and my life became more balanced again, I was able to focus on getting back in shape and losing all the weight I had gained.

It certainly helped that I had all the knowledge from my studies, and it was about time to put it into practice.

Despite being over 230 pounds at one point, I decided to start running as a way of getting my fitness back again. Seven years later and 50 pounds lighter, I’m back competing in races, but this time I run long and ultra-long distances where the focus is more on the journey than the destination. Since I love nature, I’m in my element whenever I’m out on the trails. It’s a great way to unwind, relax and give myself some much-needed headspace.

With the limited time I have for training, I always strive to optimize it to get the most out of it. I’m always learning, experimenting, and trying to utilize modern technology and the data it provides to help me grow as an athlete.

I hope you find this blog interesting and helpful and that you get something out of it. Enjoy the journey!

Cheers,

Kuba
