Best Garmin Fenix 7 Watch Faces [2024]

by | How Tos

The Garmin Fenix 7 is, without a doubt, the army Swiss knife of smartwatches. One of the features I like is the ability to customize watch faces to cater to different needs and situations.

In this article, I’ll share a few of my favorite customized stock watch faces for the Garmin Fenix 7 that I use for different occasions. I hope over time, this page becomes a deposit of the best watch faces I came up with or came across. Also, if you would like to share some of your favorite ones, please do so in the comment section below. I would love to see what you came up with!

Quick note: Since I consider battery life important and the 3rd party CIQ watch faces are often quite the power suckers, I’ll stick with variations and modifications of the stock watch faces only.

Best Garmin Watch Faces for Running

Here is my current daily driver (on the left) and a few alternatives I used in the past:

As a runner, I appreciate a watch face that gives me the most important information related to my training, i.e.:

  • weekly running volume
  • recovery time
  • race predictor time
  • weather (highest/lowest temperature for the day),
  • sunrise/sunset time
  • steps
  • and as usual, the date and the day of the week

I also like to see the arc, which indicates the day from sunrise to sunset, which allows me to see how much daylight I have left to get my run in before dusk.

Also, sometimes, I like to include race predictor time for the distance I’m training, which I find to be the most accurate indicator of my training progress (certainly more accurate than the VO2 max estimation). To learn more about how I use the race predictor in my training, you can check out my other article.

You can set yours to view a different distance than mine in the settings of the performance glance. To do so simply long press the UP/MENU button while viewing the predictor’s screen -> Performance Options and select your desired distance.

Tip: Long press any of the icons on the screen, and it will take you directly to the desired widget!

Best Analog Garmin Watch Face for Work

Clean, minimalistic, and unobtrusive, that’s the style I’m going for more when looking for a watch face for more formal occasions.

Generally, I like to use uniform color for all the elements of the watch face or occasionally one accent color. Going with more colors tends to make things look more cluttered.

Battery Saving Garmin Watch Faces

To create a battery-efficient Garmin Watch face, use as few data fields as possible and avoid data fields that update every second (i.e., heart rate, analog watch face with a second hand, etc.)

Here are my top two favorite:
